THOTS FOR THE DAY

People are like stained-glass windows.
They sparkle and shine when the sun is out,
but when the darkness sets in,their  true  beauty is revealed only if there is a light from within.

“Never allow anyone to rain on your parade and thus cast a pall of gloom and defeat on the entire day. Remember that no talent, no self-denial, no brains, no character, are required to set up in the fault-finding business. Nothing external can have any power over you unless you permit it. Your time is too precious to be sacrificed in wasted days combating the menial forces of hate, jealously, and envy.
Guard your fragile life carefully. Only God can shape a flower, but any foolish child can pull it to pieces”.

“The trouble with so many of us is that we underestimate the power of simplicity. We have a tendency it seems to over complicate our lives and forget what’s important and what’s not. We tend to mistake movement for achievement. We tend to focus on activities instead of results. And as the pace of life continues to race along in the outside world, we forget that we have the power to control our lives regardless of what’s going on outside”.

“What this country needs is more people to inspire others with confidence, and fewer people to discourage any initiative in the right direction more to get into the thick of things, fewer to sit on the sidelines, merely finding fault more to point out what’s right with the world, and fewer to keep harping on what’s wrong with it and more who are interested in lighting candles, and fewer who blow them out”.

GO THE EXTRA MILE

Success is to render more and better service than is expected of you”

A man was having dinner with his family one night at a fine gourmet restaurant in a New York City hotel. Two of his children ordered Macaroni and Cheese from the children’s menu. When their food arrived, however, they played with it more than they ate. When the father tasted their meal, he declared it to be the finest Macaroni and Cheese he had ever eaten. The waiter asked the children their opinion. “It’s yucky!” they said candidly, “It’s not Kraft”.

The next day, the family again appeared at the restaurant. The waiter from the previous night spotted them and came over to the kids with an enthusiastic smile. “I was hoping you would come back”, he said. “I’ve got Kraft for you”. With that, he went to the kitchen and returned with a box of Kraft Macaroni and Cheese for their perusal.

This waiter certainly went the second mile, perhaps even the third mile, in service. It’s no wonder that his place of employment is flourishing!.

Track stars always run “through the tape”. In order words, they set their sights on a point just past the finish line. The same is true for winners in every other area of life. Always seek to do more than the required or expected, and you’ll go beyond the finish line in victory.

Evaluate Your Association

We are all product of influences.

Whether we are conscious of this or not - the truth is that we are daily being influenced positively/negatively (the choice is yours). “Choose life that you may live”

Take a look at the power of influence in our lives and we see how possible it is to be nudged off course a little at a time until finally, we find ourselves asking, “How did I get there?”

Now ask three key questions:

1. “Who am I around?” —–We’ve got to evaluate everybody who is able to influence us in any way.

2. ”What are these associations doing to me?” ——-That’s a major question to ask. What have they got me doing, listening to, reading, thinking and feeeling? We’ve got to make a serious study of how others are influencing us, both negatively and positively.

3. ”Is that okay?” ——-Maybe everyone we associate with has been a positive, energizing influence. Then again, maybe there are some bad apples in the bunch. All i’m suggesting here is that we take an objective look. Everything is worth a second look especially the power of influence.

Is this person bringing me closer to the realization of my dreams or drawing me further?
Do i have an inner peace anytime i relate with this person or not?
Do i feel like soaring like the eagle or cowering like the chicken in his/her presence?
Am i always fulfilled when we meet or there’s always an emptiness in me?
Have i changed positively at a great measure since we knew or not?

HAVE I BEEN VERY SINCERE IN ANSWERING THE 5 QUESTIONS ABOVE?

Three ways to handle association and relationships that are holding us back

1. Disassociate—–This is not an easy decision, nor something we should take lightly, but in some cases it may be essential. It could be a choice that preserves the quality of our life.

2. Limited Association—–Spending major time with major influences (right ones) and minor time with minor influences (right ones). We have so little time at our disposal, wouldn’t it make sense to invest it wisely?

3. Expanding Your Association—–This point requires the greatest focus. Find other successful people and spend more time with. Invite them to lunch (find out how they’ve achieved so much or what makes them successful - financially, maritally, spiritually, health-wise and in their career depending on what you seek.

Always remember —-”You will be exactly who you are today, even in 5years time except for two things-the people you associate with and the books you read”

To your Success

REPOSITIONING

Change has been regarded as the only constant thing in life as nature abhors vacuum.

However, the cost of change could be overwhelming atimes but never beyond our capabilities.

“Little hinges swinge huge doors”, hence the following tips if applied would make our redirection for
a better-self easily realizable.

“Until something changes within you through information, nothing changes around you”

“The nature of a tree determines the fruits it bears, your nature is what determines your results”

“Those who think on paper think better - the shortest pen is better than the longest memory (write it down)”

“Life is reduced to a burden if you are not running with a vision, going on a mission or burning with a passion”

“Nothing is more valuable than applied insight in the journey of life, if you don’t know it - you can’t see it”

“All men fall but the great ones rise again”

“Never consent to creep when you feel an impulse to soar”

“What you know is not as important as who knows you and for what”

“A smile has no value except given away - so is LOVE”

SIN DEFORMS, EDUCATION INFORMS, ONLY GOD TRANSFORMS.

BRING OUT THE BEST IN YOU - NO ONE ELSE WOULD.

Responsibility - the key to the door of Greatness

I have often discovered that the yearning of an average human being for the good things of life —–”better job, lovely houses, financial greatness, marital bliss” often outweighs his desire “TO DO” what the good life demands.

Life has been preset as a Payment System - -what you pay is what you eventually obtain at the longrun.

A wise man has said “Responsibility is the price for Greatness”

If it’s greatness we truly desire, i trust the following would go a long way in the building block to the top.
Each letter that that makes up the word “RESPONSIBILITY” has been briefly defined in line with greatness.

Reading - Reading makes a full man. When we open books, we discover we have wings.
Always remember that “He who won’t read is not different from he who can’t read”

Efficiency - Many achieve results (though at different rates) but what seperates us from the pack and stands us out
is achieving uncommon results with the optimum use of resources.
“WASTE NOT, WANT NOT”

Sacrifice - [No Pain - No Gain] [Pay today - Play Later] [A careless consumer today - A beggar tomorrow]

Preparation - Proper Prior Preparation Prevents Poor Performance

Observation - ” Many have eyes and look”
” Some have eyes and see”
” Few have eyes and observe”
THE FUTURE BELONGS TO THOSE WHO SEE WITH THE EYES WITHIN THE EYES

Noble - What will you eventually be remebered for when long you have departed.
Do you agree that the indelible marks you leave in men’s heart has a greater lifespan than you.

Sowing - Life is controlled by seeds as life itself is a product of a great seed.
Respect, Courtesy, Integrity, Loyalty are all forms of seeds.
Our seeds today are the realities of our tomorrow

Initiative - 50% of the steps we refused or neglected to take yesterday represents half of the results or lessons we ought to have earned or learnt but did not.
Let’s be PROACTIVE and stop waiting. START TODAY.

Boldness - Do the thing you fear and the death of fear is certain.
We cannot conquer what we don’t confront. It’s time to face the fears.

Instructions - If we don’t mind instructions, destruction is inevitable.
We need not learn any instruction to know how to crawl or walk.
However, a pilot flies the airplane taking heed to a pool of instructions.
Adhering to instructions will definitely make us a high flier in life.

Learning - He who stops learning is old whether he is 20 or 80.
Remain young at heart through daily learning lest you become an “old model”

Ideas - As long as your ideas are service driven, it will not only rule the world but it will definitely change
your world. Everything we see are products of ideas.

Talking - Self talk is very crucial in the overall development of human.
Let’s keep speaking to ourself, to circumstances and to our world.
Say what you want and not what you see.

You - If we assign actual numeric value to every alphabet that makes up the word “RESPONSIBILITY”,
it’s obvious the letter ‘Y’ has the greatest value which is 25. The most important factor of all is YOU.
Someone has rightly said ”NO ONE CAN MAKE A FAILURE OUT OF YOU BUT YOU”
